Robot Software Engineer - The Role:
- Maintain company code base, following the software development life cycle
- Contribute to the design, architecture and robustness of the software stack
- Perform triage on issues and collaborate with engineers and researchers to understand complex cross-component bugs and provide fixes and improvements
- To have an overview across the engineering and research teams to understand the scope of the system and the roles of the individual components
- Working closely with the team, understand, schedule and integrate features and bug fixes
- Design flowcharts, layouts and documentation to identify requirements and solutions
- Integrate software components into a fully functional software system
- Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures
- Document and maintain software functionality
- Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems
- Comply with project plans and industry standards
- Ensure software is updated with latest features
- Prepare training manuals for users
- Writing unit tests
- Create software releases and manage the releases
Robot Software Engineer - The Person:
- BSc/Masters qualification in robotics / software engineering / computer science
- Excellent knowledge of software engineering with 2+ years’ professional experience.
- Excellent knowledge of Linux OS
- Have a broad view of a system and understanding the details of a range of components rather than focusing on one particular area
- Strong software engineering skills – can follow the required coding style
- Passionate about robotics and enjoy finding out how things work
- Good programming skills in C++ / python
- The ability to work well under pressure
- Experience of ROS for autonomous solutions highly advantageous
- Helpful to have experience in one or more of the following areas Autonomous Navigation: Motion Planning / Sensor Calibration / Sensor Data fusion
This is an office based role with an occasional early start to support commissioning teams in differeing time zones. This client has local Engineers therefore travel is minimal with this role. There will be the odd international trip for more specialised technical support or for exhbitions.
