Electrical Test Technician

£33-40k + Overtime, Pension, Healthcare, 3 x Salary Death in Service

Earn c£10-20k on top with Paid Overtime

We are looking for a methodical Engineer able to remain calm under pressure, preferably with a panel wiring background with some panel test ability, who is keen to move into an Electrical Test role offering technical development.

 

Electrical Test Technician  - The Role:

  • Ensure both quality and functionality of electrical systems meet the highest standards
  • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical technical drawings
  • Verify components against electrical design and confirm correct functionality
  • Manage calibration of all in-house test equipment
  • Maintain and improve test rigs, technology, and training tools
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure wiring and build meet compliance standards
  • Carry out pre-power and functional testing of control panels, including PLC I/O and VSDs
  • Perform insulation and resistance testing of power distribution
  • Accurately record test results, log failures, identify faults, and implement corrections
  • Provide feedback to engineering and production teams on issues or improvements
  • Undertake panel build and wiring when testing workload allows
  • Conduct VSD bench repairs for both AC and DC drives

 

Electrical Test Technician - The Person:

  • Completed apprenticeship or qualification in Electrical Engineering / Mechatronics
  • Relevant experience in electrical testing, panel wiring, or similar environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work methodically under pressure
  • Organised, self-motivated, and capable of managing workload effectively

 

Location: Shropshire (commutable from Telford, Wolverhampton, Bridgnorth, Shrewsbury, Stafford).  Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00–16:00. Overtime available but not mandatory.
