Control Engineer - The Role:
This established automation company is looking for a Controls Engineer to join its engineering team, working on the design, development and commissioning of control systems for warehouse and material handling applications.
You'll be involved across the full project lifecycle, with a strong focus on Siemens PLC programming and TIA Portal, alongside electrical design, commissioning, fault-finding and customer support.
Your work will include:
- Designing and developing PLC-based control systems for warehouse and material handling automation.
- Developing HMI and SCADA systems.
- Designing electrical control panels and field installations, including specifications and electrical calculations.
- Configuring and commissioning variable speed drives, motor control and industrial automation equipment.
- Testing, commissioning and fault-finding control systems at customer sites across the UK.
- Diagnosing faults and supporting system upgrades and modifications.
- Supporting Site Acceptance Testing, customer handovers and project go-live.
- Producing technical documentation including FDS, URS, electrical specifications, test documentation and as-built information.
Control Engineer - The Person:
We're looking for someone with:
- Proven experience as a Controls Engineer, Automation Engineer or Control Systems Engineer.
- Good knowledge of TIA Portal and Siemens S7.
- Experience developing HMI and/or SCADA systems.
- Experience commissioning industrial automation or control systems.
- Strong electrical and controls fault-finding skills.
- Experience working with conveyors, material handling, warehouse automation, logistics or distribution systems would be highly beneficial.
- Knowledge of industrial communications including Profinet, Profibus and Ethernet/IP.
- Experience with drives and motor control systems.
