Senior SCADA & MES Batch Specialist

£50K - £70K + Pension + Healthcare + Life Assurance

This is a key role for an experienced engineer who thrives in a fast-moving project environment. You'll design and deliver modern SCADA, MES, and Batch Management systems - using platform like AVEVA System Platform, Ignition and SQL Server - to digitise and automated production across the UK's most advanced facilities.

Senior SCADA & MES Batch Engineer- The Role:

• Design, configure, and develop SCADA, MES and batch systems (AVEVA, Ignition, Siemens, Rockwell, etc.) 
• Integrate with SQL server databases, including store procedures, triggers, and reporting layers
• Deliver and document Functional Design Specifications (FDS), test protocols (FAT/SAT), and validation reports (GAMP/CSV)
• Support and configure AVEVA Batch Management or similar recipe management solutions
• Develop secure industrial system architectures aligned to ISA-95, ISA-88 and IEC 62443
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams for seamless delivery
• Oversee on-site commissioning (~20% UK travel)

Senior SCADA & MES Batch Engineer  - The Person:

• Demonstrated expertise in PLC/SCADA systems integration, especially AVEVA/Wonderware and Ignition
• Strong database development with Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience with MES or Batch Management Systems (e.g. AVEVA Batch, Recipe Manager Plus) 
• Hands-on project lifecycle ownership - from FDS through commissioning
• Background in a systems integrator or automation consultancy environment
• Strong documentation, client communication, and team collaboration skills
• AVEVA certifications (System Platform, Historian, Batch)
• Integration with ERP/MES platforms like SAP or Microsoft Dynamics 365
• Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity solutions (e.g Claroty CTD/SRA)
• Experience working in regulated industries (pharma, food & bev, water)
• Knowledge of GAMP5, CSV or quality-controlled environments

Located in Staffordshire, this role would be commutable from Derby, Loughborough Lichfield, Burton on Trent, Stafford and surrounding areas.
