Mechanical Design Engineer  - The Role:

  • Preparation of fabrication, layout and schematic drawings, assembly and sub-assembly drawings with bill of materials using AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Complete project-based, mechanical design and detailing work of machined components, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic drive systems
  • Execute mechanical design calculations and analysis
  • Meet engineering schedules for design and detailing work
  • Attend and participate in internal design review meetings and customer meetings
  • Answer queries from the manufacturing department as well as customers and suppliers relating to the prepared engineering drawings
  • Identify areas of improvement on design, equipment and processes and continually liaise with all departments

 

Mechanical Design Engineer  - The Person:

  • A  Mechanical Degree or equivalent in Engineering or related discipline
  • Prior experience as a Design Engineer within an machinery engineering environment
  • Knowledge of mechanical parameters and appropriate engineering formulas to perform mechanical design calculations, in order to determine critical factors and ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MathCAD
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively in a multidisciplined environment
  • Willingness to travel to customer and supplier sites, both UK and Europe, as required
  • Full UK driving licence

 

Located in Lanarkshire, this role would be commutable from Glasgow, Livingston and Lanark.
