Control Panel Technician

1 x Contract (3 Months)

Control Panel Technician  - The Role:

  • Build and wire electrical control panels used in machinery automation to a high standard of quality and accuracy
  • Work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, general management GA) drawings, and bills of materials
  • Fit and wire PLCs, I/O modules, HMIs, VSDs (Variable Speed Drives), safety relays, and signal conditioning devices according to control specifications
  • Cut, strip, crimp, and terminate wires using correct tools and techniques, following project specifications
  • Work in compliance with relevant wiring standards
  • Work closely with electrical design engineers, test personnel, and team leads to ensure accurate builds
  • Record as-built wiring changes, highlight discrepancies in drawings, and feed back improvements to the designers

 

Control Panel Technician  - The Person:

  • Hands-on Experience: Proven ability to wire control panels from electrical schematics and layout drawings
  • Schematic Interpretation: Confident in reading and understanding wiring diagrams, terminal schedules, and general arrangement drawings
  • Wiring Skills: Neat, accurate, and consistent wiring using crimper terminals, ferrules, and cable management (trunking, bundling, etc) 
  • Component Knowledge: Familiarity with devices such as relays, contractors, PLCs, MCBs, power supplies, and terminal blocks
  • Tools Proficiency: Skilled with standards panel-building tools (cutters, crimper's, screwdrivers, drills etc) 
  • Attention to Detail: Ensures all labels, terminators, and panel layouts meet project and safety standards
