An established engineering and systems integration organisation is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex industrial automation and robotics projects. This role involves managing projects from initial concept through design, manufacture, installation, commissioning, and final handover.

You will act as the primary interface between clients and internal delivery teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to specification.

Project Manager - The Role:

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of industrial automation and robotics projects, including robotic cells, automated assembly lines, vision-guided systems, conveyors, PLC/SCADA-controlled solutions, and custom machinery
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and risk registers using recognised project management tools
  • Act as the main point of contact for customers, providing clear communication on progress, risks, changes, and expectations
  • Coordinate internal teams across engineering, design, manufacturing, procurement, software, and controls, as well as managing external suppliers and subcontractors
  • Oversee site installation, commissioning, testing, operator training, and final handover to the customer
  • Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and enhancement of project delivery processes
  • Support pre-sales activities when required, including scope definition, estimating, and risk assessment

Project Manager - The Person:

  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing projects within industrial automation, robotics integration, special-purpose machinery, or complex manufacturing environments
  • Proven track record of delivering complex, high-value automation or robotics projects (turnkey systems preferred)
  • Strong technical understanding of industrial automation technologies, to include industrial robots, PLC platforms, vision systems, conveyors, safety systems and control architectures
  • Experience with recognised project management methodologies (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile or hybrid approaches – certification advantageous)
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required (typically up to 30–40% depending on project phase)

Located in Staffordshire, this role would be commutable from Lichfield, Coleshill, Tamworth, Birmingham, Coventry, Walsall, Redditch, Atherstone and surrounding.
