This opportunity would be excellent for an Electrical Graduate looking to build a career in automation and service engineering. You will be working alongside experienced Service Engineers, supporting customers, solving technical problems and developing your skills  through a strong culture of self-learning and practical training.

 

Graduate Service Engineer  - The Role:

  • Provide front-line technical service and support to customers across a range of industries.
  • Diagnose faults and modify customer control systems to resolve technical issues.
  • Work with PLCs, HMIs, Inverters, Servo Drives and other automation technologies.
  • Support customers as part of a team providing 24/7 service and technical assistance.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours service rota, typically 5-8 days per month, including weekends.
  • Carry out smaller automation projects including PLC upgrades, small installations and machine programme modifications.
  • Attend customer sites to investigate faults, carry out modifications and provide technical support.
  • Develop knowledge of unfamiliar equipment and technologies through self-directed learning, making use of company test rigs, training materials and technical documentation to expand your knowledge.
  • Produce clear and accurate technical reports following service activities.
  • Build strong working relationships with customers, engineers and maintenance teams.
  • Work both independently and as part of a wider Service Engineering team.
  • Undertake occasional overnight stays where service work extends beyond the normal working day.
  • Travel to customer sites across the UK, with occasional voluntary overseas opportunities.
  • Provide flexible support when required, including occasional overnight and out-of-hours work.

 

Graduate Service Engineer  - The Person:

  • Degree/HNC/HND in Electrical, Electronic, Automation Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Graduate or early-career engineer with a genuine interest in automation and control systems.
  • Some knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, Inverters and/or Servo drives.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and keen to continuously develop technical skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Confident approach to fault-finding and investigating technical issues.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills at all levels
  • Comfortable working directly with customers and providing technical support.
  • Good written communication and report-writing skills.
  • Full UK driving licence, or ability to obtain one within the first year.
  • A proactive attitude towards learning new technologies and equipment.

 

Located in Staffordshire, this role would be commutable from Cannock, Stoke-on-Trent, Uttoxeter, Rugeley and other surrounding areas.
