This is an exciting opportunity for a Controls Commissioning Engineer to join a long-established automation engineering business with decades of experience delivering bespoke turnkey manufacturing systems to customers around the world.
With exposure to the latest PLCs, robotics, servo systems and industrial automation technologies, this role offers excellent opportunities for technical development and long-term career progression.
Controls Commissioning Engineer – The Role:
From machine build through to customer acceptance, you'll be involved in all aspects of commissioning and control system development, including:
- Programming and modifying PLC, HMI and control systems to meet customer requirements
- Configuring servo drives, robots and specialist automation equipment
- Fault-finding across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and control systems
- Testing, validating and optimising machine performance
- Identifying opportunities to improve system functionality and reliability
- Recording test results and maintaining accurate engineering documentation
- Participating in internal design and project reviews
- Working closely with Mechanical, Electrical and Software Engineers throughout project delivery
- Supporting customer installations, commissioning and acceptance testing in the UK and overseas
Controls Commissioning Engineer – What We're Looking For:
- Experience programming PLCs and HMIs using platforms including, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Festo or Codesys
- Knowledge of servo systems, VFDs, Remote I/O, Ethernet and Profibus networks
- Background in Industrial Automation, Machinery, Electrical or Pneumatic systems
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and pneumatic drawings
- Knowledge of industrial robotics (6-axis robot experience advantageous)
- Strong fault-finding, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Relevant Electrical, Mechanical or Automation apprenticeship or engineering qualification
