Are you a Mechanical Fitter looking to work on bespoke machinery rather than repetitive production equipment?

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an established engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke special-purpose machinery and automation systems for customers across a range of manufacturing industries.

 

Mechanical Fitter - The Role:

  • Build and assemble bespoke special-purpose machinery and automation systems
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD designs and assembly documentation
  • Carry out mechanical fitting, assembly and adjustment of machine components
  • Install mechanical systems, guards, conveyors, actuators and associated equipment
  • Work with bearings, shafts, gearboxes, motors, pneumatic components and other mechanical assemblies
  • Carry out alignment, setting and mechanical adjustments to ensure accurate machine operation
  • Support machine testing, fault finding and troubleshooting during the build process
  • Work closely with Mechanical Design Engineers to resolve design or build issues
  • Liaise with Electrical and Controls Engineers to support integrated machine builds
  • Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and machine preparation for customer delivery

 

Mechanical Fitter - The Person:

  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Technician or similar hands-on engineering role
  • Experience building machinery, equipment or mechanical assemblies
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong mechanical fitting and assembly skills
  • Good understanding of mechanical components and machinery
  • Experience with pneumatics would be advantageous
  • Experience within automation, special-purpose machinery or manufacturing would be beneficial
  • A practical, hands-on approach to engineering and problem solving
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team
  • Willingness to support projects through build, testing and commissioning
