This is a senior, hands-on position for an experienced Electronics or Power Electronics Engineer with high-voltage design expertise and the confidence to lead complex engineering projects. You’ll work across the full product lifecycle, from customer requirements and concept development through to detailed design, prototyping, verification, production introduction and ongoing technical support.

Senior High Voltage Design Engineer – The Role:

• Design high-voltage power supplies and power conversion systems
• Develop analogue, digital, control circuits and magnetics
• Take projects from concept through to production
• Select components and technologies to meet technical requirements
• Produce schematics, calculations, specifications, BOMs and technical reports
• Use KiCAD or similar schematic capture and PCB layout software
• Support simulation, prototyping and design transfer
• Define test and verification plans and acceptance criteria
• Carry out hands-on HV testing, commissioning and fault-finding
• Support EMC, environmental, reliability and safety assessments
• Lead design reviews, risk assessments and root-cause investigations
• Provide technical guidance, peer review and mentoring
• Work closely with internal teams, customers and suppliers
• Investigate equipment faults and non-conformances
• Support Production with build and test issues
• Provide technical input to tenders, quotations and feasibility studies
• Support customer integration, commissioning and after-sales activities
• Drive continuous improvement and engineering best practice

What We’re Looking For:

• Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent in Electronic, Electrical or Power Electronics Engineering
• Senior-level electronic design experience across the full development lifecycle
• Strong experience designing high-voltage power supplies or power electronics
• Knowledge of converter topologies, magnetics, control, insulation, PCB layout and safe working
• Experience with schematic design, component selection, calculations, prototyping and testing
• Proficient with PCB design and power electronics simulation tools
• Strong electrical/electronic fault-finding and root-cause analysis skills
• Experience producing technical documentation, specifications and test reports
• Ability to lead projects, make sound technical decisions and manage priorities
• Confident communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Methodical, safety-conscious and highly detail-oriented
• Strong ownership of quality, technical integrity and engineering outcomes

Desirable Experience

• Switched-mode power supplies and HV DC-DC converters
• IGBT/MOSFET power stages and gate-drive design
• EMC, thermal management, insulation and design for reliability
• Microcontroller or embedded software experience
• Defence, aerospace, nuclear, medical or other regulated environments
• Design reviews, FMEA, risk assessments and configuration control
• 3D CAD or product data management systems
• Technical input into tenders, quotations and feasibility studies
• IEng/CEng registration or working towards professional registration
