Electrical Design Engineer - EPLAN

£50-65k + Enhanced Pension, Death in Service, Flexible Working

An exciting opportunity to join a specialist engineering business developing advanced laser processing and precision automation systems for global manufacturers. Working within a small engineering team, you’ll take ownership of electrical design across complex industrial equipment, from concept through to production.

Electrical Design Engineer – The Role:

• Create electrical schematics, single-line diagrams and wiring drawings using EPLAN Electric P8
• Design control panels, power distribution, motion control systems and wiring harnesses
• Carry out power, load, component and thermal calculations
• Apply PL safety assessments and relevant electrical standards
• Ensure designs meet CE/UKCA, IEC 60204-1, ISO 13849 and EN ISO 12100
• Produce BOMs, build instructions and technical documentation
• Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles
• Support prototyping, testing and electrical fault finding
• Manage design data using Autodesk Vault and SharePoint
• Work with Mechanical, Software, Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain teams
• Liaise with suppliers and support design reviews and First Article Inspection
• Provide technical support to field service teams and customers

What We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years' electrical design experience within industrial equipment
• Strong control panel, power distribution and motion control experience
• Experience in laser systems, automation or capital equipment
• Expert-level EPLAN Electric P8 knowledge
• Strong understanding of CE/UKCA and electrical safety standards
• Experience with electrical calculations, component selection and PL assessments
• Good knowledge of DFM and full design documentation
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Desirable:

• Experience taking designs from R&D through to production
• Multidisciplinary Mechanical/Software Engineering experience
• Customer-facing and FAT/SAT experience
• Six Sigma, 8D or 5-Why experience
• CEng status or working towards it
