The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a highly specialised and innovative engineering consultancy, working on a diverse portfolio of cutting-edge projects for prestigious, blue-chip clients across a variety of industry sectors, including Pharmaceutical, Automotive and Aerospace.

With a strong reputation for delivering bespoke engineering solutions, the business specialises in the design and manufacture of specialist test rigs and equipment, supporting complex research and development applications.  Bringing together expertise across multiple engineering disciplines, the company offers an engaging and technically challenging environment where innovation, creativity and practical problem-solving are encouraged.

You will join an experienced and dynamic engineering team, playing a key role in delivering projects from initial concept and costing through to design, build, testing and commissioning.

Electrical Design Engineer – The Role

• Working on a varied portfolio of exciting engineering projects for leading clients across multiple industry sectors.
• Designing electrical control systems and instrumentation for bespoke machinery and test equipment.
• Taking projects through the full life cycle, from initial costing and concept design through to commissioning.
• Identifying, specifying and selecting appropriate electrical components and equipment.
• Developing innovative solutions to complex electrical design and engineering challenges.
• Supporting hands-on system testing and fault-finding activities.
• Working across multiple projects, taking ownership of individual responsibilities while collaborating closely with a skilled multidisciplinary team.

Electrical Design Engineer – The Person

• HNC, HND or Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in an electrical design engineering role.
• Experience with EPLAN, Autocad Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical ideal
• A genuine interest in electrical design, instrumentation, machinery safety and control systems.
• Knowledge of the Low Voltage Directive and/or Machinery Directive would be beneficial.
• A proactive approach with a willingness to learn, develop and apply your knowledge to new engineering challenges.
• Able to manage projects and take responsibility from initial concept through to completion.
• A strong team player with the confidence to work independently when required.

Location

Based in Derbyshire, the position is commutable from Derby, Nottingham, Loughborough, Burton upon Trent and Uttoxeter.
