Work on complex automation projects that keep modern warehouses, distribution centres and logistics operations moving. This established automation business is looking for an experienced Senior Controls & Automation Engineer to take technical ownership of control system projects, from initial design and PLC development through to commissioning and customer handover.

You'll be working primarily with Siemens S7 and TIA Portal, developing PLC, HMI and SCADA systems while taking a lead role in project delivery, technical problem-solving and customer support.

Senior Controls Engineer - The Role:

You will be responsible for delivering complete control system solutions across automated logistics and material handling projects, including:

• Leading the design, development, testing and commissioning of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems.
• Developing control system architectures, FDS, URS and testing documentation.
• Supporting electrical control panel design and field installations.
• onfiguring and commissioning VSDs, motor control and motion control systems.
• Leading controls activities through installation, commissioning and Site Acceptance Testing.
• Supporting new installations, upgrades, retrofits and continuous improvement projects.
• Integrating equipment including barcode readers, scanners, printers, weighing systems and tracking systems.
• Providing technical input into project planning, risk assessments and technical reviews.
• Supporting the sales team with technical proposals, system concepts and controls estimates.
• Developing engineering standards, best practices and reusable software solutions.
• Providing technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers.

We are looking for Qualified Engineers to take ownership of projects and work confidently with customers. Full driving licence essential.

Located in Cheshire, this role would be commutable from St Helens, Northwich, Chester, Daresbury, Runcorn, Widnes, Manchester, Stockport and Macclesfield - offering hybrid working.
